KKUIC Launches ‘Well-Being 2024: Care to Connect’ Initiative to Promote Mental and Physical Health

Khon Kaen University International College (KKUIC) has organized the “KKUIC Well-Being 2024: Care to Connect” project to promote physical and mental health. The project is led by Assistant Professor Sirimonbhorn Thipsingh, Dean of KKUIC; Dr. Wanwisa Wannapipat, Associate Dean for Associate Dean for Student Empowerment and Organizational Happiness; and Dr. Nat Chaijaroen, Division Chair of the Student Engagement and Internal Organizational Relations, along with faculty members, staff, students, and the KKUIC Student Union.

The event took place on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 08:00 to 16:30, in the Social Space room on the 2nd floor of the Shared Learning and Basic Skills Development Building at KKUIC. The “KKUIC Well-Being 2024: Care to Connect” project aims to encourage staff and students to recognize the importance of both physical and mental health while promoting a sustainable caring community.

The project activities included mental health counseling sessions led by Ms. Thidawan Yokubon, an independent facilitator, and Mr. Paitoon Permsirinicas, a music therapist. Both experts designed learning experiences and workshops focused on mental well-being and self-care skills development, such as stress management, building positive relationships, and enhancing mental health awareness.

The project was divided into two sessions. The morning session targeted the KKUIC Student Union members, while the afternoon session focused on faculty and support staff. The latter emphasized educating participants on how to identify students who may need assistance and providing initial support to promote good mental health.

The main objectives of the project are:

  1. To raise awareness among staff and students about the importance of physical and mental health care.
  2. To create a supportive and caring community within the organization.
  3. To strengthen bonds and unity among students, faculty, and staff of the International College.

The event was expected to result in participants gaining a better understanding of physical and mental health care, developing self-awareness and management skills, and fostering stronger relationships between staff and students at KKUIC, ultimately creating a more unified community.
