During 21–22 March 2026, Khon Kaen University International College (KKUIC) organized the program entitled “Cultural Trip for Exchange Students to Si Chom Phu District 2026.” The program brought exchange students from partner universities abroad to Si Chom Phu District, Khon Kaen Province, for a field-based learning experience focused on cultural exchange, community lifestyle, and natural exploration.
This program was designed to provide exchange students with experiential learning opportunities through hands-on activities and direct engagement with the local community. It also aimed to strengthen the relationship between KKUIC and its international partner institutions by offering students meaningful opportunities to learn and immerse themselves in local culture, traditions, and community interactions.
Throughout the trip, students participated in a variety of activities that reflect the unique identity of Si Chom Phu District, including:
– Food Preservation Workshop: Learning how to make Som Moo (traditional fermented pork) alongside local villagers.
– Mountain Exploration: A short hiking trail (approximately 400 meters) to explore Tham Pha Cho, a limestone cave of local significance.
– Stream Adventure & Stone Art: A creative art activity by a natural stream, using pigments derived from local stones. Students grind natural stones on smooth surfaces to create colors, then use brushes to paint on paper.
– E-Tak Tractor Ride: Enjoying a ride on a traditional local farm vehicle to a scenic “sea of mountains” viewpoint, accessible only with guidance from the local community.
– Wat Tham Saeng Tham Visit: Visiting a beautiful mountaintop temple, a spiritual center for the local community, offering a 360-degree panoramic view.
This activity not only enhances the international relations profile of KKUIC, but also plays a significant role in supporting the local economy and promoting meaningful cultural exchange between international students and Thai communities in a tangible way.
